USC-CMAA was founded in 2007 by students interested in becoming more connected with the construction industry. In 2011 USC's chapter of the Associated General Contracts became part of USC CMAA in order to better facilitate to the students.

The purpose of USC-CMAA is to promote professionalism and excellence in construction management by encouraging student participation in the Southern California CMAA, promote interaction between students, alumni, and industry professionals, and provide exposure to important topics and issues in construction management.

USC-CMAA is open to all those interested in the field of construction and construction management including both graduate and undergraduate students in the construction, engineering, business, real estate, architecture, and other related disciplines.
